Flirting with Drupal

Okay, I've pretty much lost my mind at this point. This paper is simply killing me. In order to keep myself from going completely insane, I've been taking 15 minute breaks between writing my paper and have somehow managed to get Drupal working.

I've grown tired of Blosxom, so I was looking for a change. Travis has long been a fan of Drupal, but I was previously hesitant because I'm not a big fan of PHP applications in general. I generally consider PHP to be a good prototyping language, but I don't really care for how applications end up looking in the long run—that's a whole other blog, so I'll stop there.

Anyway, I took a look into Drupal 4.5 and I like what I see. It looks like they've done a lot of the stuff similar to the features I like in Bricolage and Everything. So, I'm giving it a shot.

At this point, I like it so much, I'm thinking of recommending it for use on our church site. I still need to figure out how that would look, but I think it's doable.

Oh man...

Okay, I know this is in the "Life" category, but that's really not appropriate. I have no life.

Between buying a house, preparing my M.S. Report, teaching class, trying to keep the systems from falling apart, and a coincidence of social events, I'm toast. I need vacation. Unfortunately, once I get this hell finished, I'm going to have to catch up on the systems. Then, I'll be moving. So, sometime around early February, I might actually have a life again, but boy am I dying now.

Anyway, I'm trying to hold things together with a lot of prayer right now. Hopefully, next week I will have a very positive post about the success of my final presentation. But, until then...

First Home

May I welcome all friends and family coming here to my blog. I'd first like to list a disclaimer that you shouldn't read any entry after this point. I tend to rant a little too hard and little too much. My emotions run high in the negative too often. I'm attempting to change that, but in the meantime...just stop....er, something. Anyway, on to the meat.

I believe Jeff and Julie will find this home to be a familiar one as we'll be your backyard neighbors soon, God willing.

First, it's a box. I know it's box. I believe a certain friend of ours (I won't mention Dan's name) would refer to this as a "cookie cutter" home. No, really, it's the cookie cutter itself. The overall layout is pretty much a rectangle with one corner bitten out of it. Furthermore, while the yard out front looks nifty, the yard in back is...erm....strange. It has just enough backyard to hold a patio, a swing set, a patch of dirt (a.k.a. garden), and a 6 foot drop.
